Capital Raising

Whether you are an emerging manager or the CEO of a multi-billion dollar hedge fund platform, capital inflow is a critical objective of your business development plan. How you go about achieving this goal and with whom you partner is as critical as the objective itself. Nothing can disrupt a firm's performance or culture more than significant amounts of time and effort spent engaging the wrong investors. As one of the early creators of Capital Introduction programs, the partners at Merlin have assessed the changing dynamics of the investor marketplace and determined that today's "Cap Intro" programs have little chance of meeting a fund manager's expectations. This is due to a combination of evolving issues, including a tightening regulatory environment, the proliferation of funds, perceived intermediary liabilities, "headline" risk and cost pressures on the capital introduction groups at the prime brokers. Therefore, we believe the most cost effective and time efficient means to access the investor market is through a formal partnership with a Capital Raising expert.

To this end, Merlin has interviewed and met with a range of Capital Raising firms. We have narrowed the field to a select list of firms that cover the prerequisites of proven success rates, quality client mandates, deep experience and strong investor networks. Merlin's role will be to provide oversight and marketing resources. From the start, we will guide you through the selection process, consulting on each firm's unique qualities and partner personalities. Once your capital raising partner has been selected, we will help to establish realistic expectations, including specified deliverables against an approved timetable.
